I have tried typing the right words several times, and I keep deleting and starting over. I have known Chuck for many years, but really came to know him well when I hired him to work at STC as one of our night security guards back in 2003. For six years, the staff of STC had the privelege of listening to him in the mornings and then visiting with him in the afternoons. He was always very personable and went out of his way to speak to everybody. I am listening to John Koon right now say that it seems unfinished -- Chuck took a few days off from STC as well as the radio station and didn't come back. It seems like we have unfinished business as well. So, let me say, on behalf of the entire STC family, that we appreciate your dedication to us and our students for the past 6 years. Even when you didn't feel well, you put the safety of our students above your personal well-being. I know your body went physically as far as it could go on this earth and just gave out--but you refused to give up, and got the most out of this life that you possibly could. I don't know why, but this familiar verse keeps coming to my head as I type this:
“May the road rise up to meet you, may the wind be ever at your back. May the sun shine warm upon your face and the rain fall softly on your fields. And until we meet again, May God hold you in the hollow of his hand.”
I hope you are enjoying your rest in Heaven - you certainly earned it.
